Welcome to the web site of the Purdue Alumni Club of Southern Arizona. The club network is a great way to meet other Boilermakers, keep informed of campus activities and show your Purdue pride.

We hope you will consider participating in Purdue Alumni Club of Southern Arizona activities and a become a member of the Purdue For Life Foundation.

Check our Facebook page or Instagram page to get the latest information regarding local events. We offer many opportunities to get involved and socialize with fellow Boilermakers. Look for upcoming sports game watches, monthly outings, dinners with speakers, and community service projects and fundraising for worthy charities including our own scholarship for southern Arizona students going to Purdue. There’s something here for everyone! We’ll be looking for you at upcoming events.

Scholarship

Intended to encourage and aid students from Southern Arizona to attend Purdue University, the Scholarship Fund was established in 1997. The Fund is designed as an endowment, with scholarships financed by earnings from Fund investments. The principal is held and invested by the Purdue Foundation.

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic merit and a record of achievement and leadership in areas beyond academics, and will be approved by the Purdue Division of Financial Aid. Scholarships are awarded to both incoming freshmen and returning upper class Purdue Students.

Applications are due by March 1 and will be announced on May 1 for the upcoming academic year.

Contribute to the Scholarship Endowment

Contributions to the Scholarship Fund are tax deductible as charitable contributions and may be made in two ways:

  1. Give online at Purdue’s Giving Website. In the “Click Here to Select Your Funds” list scroll down to “Purdue Alumni Club Scholarships” and find, and click, “Purdue Club of Southern Arizona Scholarship Endowment.” Complete the form and submit.
  2. Mail in a check with a completed Purdue Donation Form.

If you are eligible for a “Matching Gifts” program through your employer please submit your employer’s required forms to double or triple the value of your donation! More information regarding matching gifts can be found here.

You can now purchase Alumni Club of Southern Arizona merchandise at the official Purdue for Life Foundation merchandise store. Offerings include branded shirts and outerwear for men and women, plus hats, blankets, tumblers, and more! Please note that you will be purchasing from Freckles Graphics, a preferred partner for merchandise.

Patsy J. Mellott

BS College of Health and Human Sciences, 1969
Fishers, IN

Patsy earned a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition in business from Purdue in 1969, in addition to an MBA in food marketing from Michigan State University in 1970. She retired from Kraft Foods in 2006 after 36 years in corporate food marketing and marketing communications management.

A community volunteer, Patsy serves on the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana Advisory Board and the Purdue College of Health and Human Sciences Dean’s Leadership Council, in addition to the President’s Council Advisory Board. She is a former member of the Health and Human Sciences Alumni Board. Patsy held several offices from 2006 through 2013, including president and treasurer. She serves her community’s Discover Indianapolis Club in Fishers, holding several leadership roles for over 10 years.

Patsy has received several honors, including the Purdue University Nutrition Science Department Hall of Fame recipient in 2009 and the Purdue University College of Health and Human Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016. She also received the college’s Gold and Black Award in 2016, an honor reserved for donors who have moved the college forward by committing exceptional financial resources.

In addition to endowing two scholarships, the Patsy J. Mellott Scholarship and Patsy J. Mellott HHS Scholarship, she established the Patsy J. Mellott Teaching Innovation Award in the College of Health and Human Sciences in 2013. In 2015, she endowed the Patsy J. Mellott Women’s Tennis Coach Performance Award. She is a lead donor in the Christine M. Ladisch Faculty Leadership Award and the Purdue Women’s Network Virginia C. Meredith Scholarship for the College of Health and Human Sciences.
