How to Volunteer?

MENTOR OR ADVISE PURDUE STARTUPS

Are you a recovering entrepreneur looking to put your experience to work? Or, are you an industry or subject-matter expert who has always had an interest in startups but never quite took that leap?

Well, now is your shot. The Purdue Foundry works with more than 100 early-stage startups each year and they could all benefit from some level of coaching, mentoring, or other support. We can help match you to a startup that fits your interest!

Purdue Alumni hosts workshops and conferences — in-person and virtually. We are always looking for alumni to share their expertise in areas of time management, networking, communications, team building, etc.

Are you a member of a fraternity, sorority, or cooperative house? Our students need smart, driven, and passionate alumni to help in areas such as academics, recruitment, and new member education.

There are also opportunities to serve your chapter or house’s alumni board to help manage the property. A member of our staff will connect you with your organization’s current alumni leadership to learn more.

The Purdue Alumni portal can connect you with our global community, students and alumni alike. By building out a profile on the portal, potential mentees can evaluate whether you might be a good match for them! You must be a member of Purdue Alumni to access the mentorship features.

The Mock Career Fair is a great way to help students improve their résumé, elevator pitch, attire, and more! Your participation can help prepare them so they are ready for the real career fairs. We are also looking for businesses that would like to host an in-person or virtual tour of their office to talk with students about internship and job opportunities.

The Purdue Alumni Association is organized independently of the University as a nonprofit and, as such, is led by a volunteer board of directors. Elections occur every two years and members of the alumni association from all over the globe are eligible to participate. Alumni members who sign up to participate in the election will be voted on by other members. Terms last for two years and involve two visits to campus annually.

Volunteers are key to the success of alumni clubs and networks. Long-term and short-term opportunities exist. Examples include: serving on a board or committee, planning fundraisers, organizing service events, soliciting donations, finding local speakers, recruiting students. Just to name a few!

From board meetings to fundraisers, local alumni clubs and networks are always looking for space to meet! Do you have a space to share? Let us know and we’ll help you get connected with alumni in your area!

The alumni club scholarship program helps students each year to achieve their goal of attending Purdue. Do you have vintage Purdue gear, sports tickets, available excursions, golf packages, or other items to donate? Are you able to assist in securing items? Alumni clubs host fundraisers for their scholarships for incoming and returning Purdue students with silent auctions and raffles. They are always looking for new items and partnerships.

The Office of Admissions and the Purdue Alumni Association collaborate on the PART (Purdue Alumni Recruiting for Tomorrow) alumni volunteer program in which alumni represent the University across the country at local college fairs and college night programs.

Have other ideas of how you would like to volunteer for Purdue? We would love to hear them! A member of our staff will reach out to schedule a 30-minute meeting to learn more.
